Give thanks to the little gals

spider-on-porchFall is almost here. The leaves are starting to change. The spiders are fattening up before they lay their eggs. The honeybees are everywhere, feasting on the last of the flowering plants.

Even though Thanksgiving is still a month away, before we shut down this summer, let’s remember to give thanks to all these little gals who help feed us, or the ones that keep annoying insects at bay, or the ones who just look pretty darned nifty and are happy to pose for pictures.

Over the winter, consider building a bee house, or plan a bee- and butterfly-friendly garden for next year, or perhaps just not kill the spiders who are, even as we speak, sneaking into your basement to escape the cold.
